FELIZ ANIVERSARIO!

We celebrated Valerie's 21st in high style, at the chic Noodle Lounge in Rio Vermelho (translation: "red river"), which was strangely reminiscent of a San Franciscan nightspot- *cue the nostalgia symphony*. We noshed on tape style appetizers, sipped many a cocktail, danced to smooth beats, and just gabbed on the latest- in Portuguese, mind you. (Ok, I was lying about the latter.)

AN IMPROMPTU VISIT

The following details the adventures of Taddy and I, our journey through the exquisite beaches of Salvador (judge for yourself) and the "old city" known as Pelourinho. After coasting for a month in Recife, dabbling in random city excursions here and there, he and his pops hopped on a plane to come see...ME! I was delighted to receive the phone call, and even more elated to hang out with my old chum.
